Get to know me

My name is Tomáš Pospíšil and I am a professional athlete and calisthenics coach. I have been practicing this wonderful sport for 6 years and have achieved many successes during that time. I am currently a 4-time Czech Republic champion and the 2025 World Champion. I have competed in dozens of other competitions around the world, including Poland, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, and many other countries. And believe me, I’m just getting started.

What I love about this sport is that there is always room for growth, you can always get stronger and learn new tricks, etc. At the same time, creativity knows no bounds, and the freedom of movement that this sport offers is simply incredible. Thanks to all these things, I love this sport so much that it has become a part of my personality and my life.

Since I was a child, I have been involved in all kinds of sports, whether it was soccer, karate, parkour, MMA, or judo, which I stuck with for 11 years. Then I discovered street workout, and there was no turning back.

I have learned a great deal during my sporting career. I have enjoyed dozens of successes, including the world championship title in 2025. But I know that being a good athlete does not automatically mean being a good coach. That is why I am constantly working on myself, educating myself, and looking for new ways to pass on my experience to my protégés in the best possible way. My athletic journey is not over—on the contrary, I feel like I’m just getting started. And just as I want to grow, I want those I lead to grow with me. My friendly approach, open communication, and humility toward my work are the reasons why you are looking for me as your coach.

You don’t need much to train calisthenics. It all depends on what you have available at the moment – whether it’s an outdoor street workout park, a classic gym, a small home gym, or just your room and some bars. Calisthenics can be practiced literally anywhere. More important than equipment is what you want to learn and where you want to go. Want to learn how to do a handstand? You don’t need anything. Planning to master the planche or a 360° turn? Find the nearest playground and get started. And that’s where I can help you. Tell me your goals and describe what equipment you have—leave the rest to me. I’ll create a customized training plan for you based on exactly what you need.
 

There are many reasons, but one of my favorites—albeit a bit controversial—is this: almost anyone can go to the gym, sit down on a machine, and pump iron. But mastering your body, learning stylish tricks, and working with your own weight? That’s a whole different ball game. The main advantage of calisthenics is that it teaches you to make full use of your own body. You gain greater control, functional strength, and flexibility that regular gym workouts often don’t give you. Your body will become stronger in a comprehensive, natural, and profound way. And besides, let’s face it, knowing a few tricks on the bar can come in handy sometimes. Going to a party and want to impress? No problem. A combination of calisthenics and classic gym training can also be a great choice. For example, on „push day,“ you can alternate between barbell exercises and bodyweight exercises. You’ll get the best of both worlds.

Calisthenics is a modern sport based on exercises using your own body weight. But it’s definitely not just about pull-ups and dips on an old playground, as your grandparents might imagine. There’s much more to this sport than that. Calisthenics is an officially recognized sport with several competitive disciplines. These include freestyle—my favorite category—where each athlete creates their own routine and combines extremely demanding dynamic and static elements. Or the strength category, where athletes compete in pull-ups, dips, or pull-ups with added weight. Although today it is a globally recognized sport, it all started very simply – with basic exercises that were often performed by former prisoners in their cells to stay strong and fit. Pull-ups, push-ups, dips – nothing more, just your own body and determination. The word „calisthenics“ comes from Greek – kallos means „beauty“ and sthenos means „strength.“ Literally, „beautiful strength.“ And that’s exactly what this sport is about – harmony between strength, control, and graceful movement. Calisthenics is also a sport full of creativity. There are thousands of different tricks, but new ones are created every year. There are no limits – only those you set for yourself.
 
Yes, you can. You don’t need any previous experience to start practicing calisthenics. Basic exercises such as pull-ups, push-ups, dips, etc. take a short time to learn and can be mastered after a few training sessions. Of course, more advanced strength elements are a little harder to learn, but everything can be mastered. It’s important to start from the beginning and progress gradually, and that’s where I can help you.
